Web Update Finished

Well, the PKAP web update is now finished, except for a few minor tweaks and corrections. We even have added a podcast section and put up a few trial podcasts to see how they work out. The PKAP off-season is now starting to pick up as we attempt to secure funding for the 2008 fieldseason and present a few papers. In fact, the Byzantine Studies Conference is coming up in about two weeks in Toronto and we are presenting a paper at it. It will be my first BSC conference since the 2004 conference in Baltimore. We have a couple of other meetings scheduled for later this year and early next year.

Web Update

Well, back again. Hopefully I can keep these posts coming now that my semester is slowing down a bit. I promised a web update to the PKAP site and that is what I have been working on. I actually promised a web update by the end of August, and so I am on my usual schedule. Bill and Dave have been patient, but started asking more frequently about it, so I took a few days and got most of the kinks out of the new pages. If you get a chance, check out http://www.chss.iup.edu/pkap/ and let me know what you think. We will have some podcasts up soon as well.

September 5th

Well, so much for trying to post everyday. New goal, once a week. So, let's see where we are on various projects:

1) PKAP - We are now fully in the post fieldseason writing phase. We are currently writing grant applications for next year, and even a few for 2009. What we are focusing on right now is our paper for the Byzantine Studies Conference which will take place in Toronto this October. I am also trying to redo our project website but have run into a few snags. My goal was to learn how to use Dreamweaver and use templates for easy updating. I had been using Frontpage for many years and was quite accustomed to its quirks and tricks. I have created a drop-down navigation bar, but can't get it to work with the template, so the web redo will have to wait until next week.

2) Second Life - We have just begun a project to create a virtual model of our site in Second Life to allow visitors to see what the site looks like and what techniques we use on the project. This project just started and will hopefully be available to the public at the start of the new year.

3) Documentary #2 - This is in the editing stage and hopefully we will have more info on this soon.
