Scott received his B.A. in Classics (Classical Archaeology) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill way back in 1989, his M.A. in Maritime History and Underwater Archaeology from East Carolina in 1992, and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in History (Ancient) - for a grand total of 16 years of college education.
Scott is currently an Associate Professor of History at the ever confusingly named Indiana University of Pennsylvania - and no, it is not connected to either Indiana University or the University of Pennsylvania. He teaches classes on ancient Greece, Rome, Western Civilization, medieval, Byzantine Empire, digital history, and classical archaeology. Oh, and even a class on the world in the 20th century.
Scott also has an interest in archaeology and has participated in a number of projects in the Mediterranean. He is currently the co-director of the Pyla-Koutsopetria Archaeological Project, a survey of a Late Roman coastal village on the southern coast of Cyprus.
